Dear Mr. Marek:
"The Family de Baux/del Balzo"genealogy at
http://www2.webpark.cz/miramarek/genealogie/baux/baux1.html
and
http://www2.webpark.cz/miramarek/genealogie/baux/baux2.html
is badly flawed, for it confuses two entirely different families... I am not surprised at this error, as even the eminent chronologer Sir Anthony Marinus Hendrik Johan Stokvis (1855-1924), in his magnificent «Manuel d'histoire, de génélogie et de chronologie de tous les états du Globe, depuis les temps les plus reculés jusq'a nos jours» (Leiden, N. V. Boekhandel & Antiquariaat, 1888-1893), confuses the same two families simmilarly.
Truly yours,
Aurelio Isamat, Prince of Catalonia-Ampurias-Cardona

One of the families is the French House of Baux, while the other is the Catalan House of Cervera, originally Cervaria (in Latin), Cervera (in Catalan and Castillian), later also Cerveró, Cervelló (in Catalan), and Cerverón, Cervellón (in Castillian). This House of Cervera inherited Principality-vicounty of Bas (which was the feudal evolution of the hereditary office of Vice Prince-count of Besalú), and was, thus, also House of Bas.
The Principality-vicounty of Bas, originally Basso (in Latin), is entirely different form the Barony of Baux.
The spelling Cerveró (Cerverón) is a diminutive of Cervera, while Cervelló (Cervellón) is a variation of Cerveró. The use of diminutives as alternate spelling of surnames and fiefs is very common in Catalan.
The Barony of Cervera, later ussually called Cervelló (Cervellón), was a fief of the Principality-county of Barcelona, and in modern times was divided into several municipalities, including the municipality of Cervelló, in the province of Barcelona.
The Barony of Cervera a.k.a. Cervelló should not be confused with the city of Cervera, in the province of Lleida (Lérida). A second Barony of Cervera was founded in , including the area sourrounding the city of Cervera (but never the city itself). It was a fief of the Principality-county of Urgell. This Cervera toponym was derived from the older name of the city, Dhervera (in Arabic).
The Barons of Cervera a.k.a. Cervelló (peers of Barcelona) descdended from the Barons of Castellfollit. The Barons of Cervera (peers of Urgell) descended from the Barons of Timor. As the coat of arms of the House of Cervera (Castellfollit-Cervera) a.k.a. Cervelló, the House of Timor, and the other House of Cervera (Timor-Cervera), are essentially the same, it is most probable that the Barons of Timor were themselves descendants of the Barons of Cervera a.k.a. Cervelló.

The
Founder of the other Barony of Cervera was Lord Galceran de Timor, later kwon as
Galceran de Cervera, from whom this other Barony of Cervera was created in 1067.
At the service of Lord Ramon Berenguer I, Duke of Hispania and Prince-count of
Barcelona, Lord Galceran de Timor took the city of Cervera (Dherwera) from the
Moors in 1067. As I mentioned earlier, this barony never included the city of
Cervera, but held considerable territory in the immediate area.
